As part of the internationalization program of the Philippine Historical Association, its president Dr. Emmanuel Franco Calairo met with the Malaysian Historical Society (MHS) at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia to explore possibilities of regional collaboration. The meeting took place at the Malaysian Historical Society headquarters on 23 March 2015.
The executive committee officers of the Malaysian Historical Society with its head Chairman Tan Sri (Dr) Omar Mohd Hashim welcomed the PHA president warmly. Other members who attended the meeting were Dato’ Nik Mohamed Nik Mohd Salleh – Deputy Chairman of The Executive Committee of MHS, Dato’ Haji Jumaat Dato’ Haji Mohd Noor – Honorary Treasurer General MHS, Haji Abdul Rahman Mohd Ali – Member of The Executive Committee MHS, and Mr. Mohd Arof Ishak – Member of The Executive Committee MHS.
The meeting started with greetings and introductory statements by the two historical societies, followed by exploring collaborative projects between them. The agenda included the possibility of hosting of joint conferences, exchange of publications as well as visiting lecturers, and joint researches. The Malaysian Historical Society
has committed to collaborating with PHA in furthering understanding between the Philippines and Malaysia. The meeting ended with an exchange of tokens of appreciation.
