In collaboration with the UST Faculty of Arts and Letters and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the Philippine Historical Association (PHA) will celebrate its 60thanniversary by sponsoring an international conference themed Historical Education in Asia: Issues and Challenges on August 27-29, 2015 at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines.
Historical education, a broad field of research and learning which includes the teaching of history, harnessing historical thinking skills, training in historiography and dissemination of historical knowledge should be given priority in this fast changing world. In the age of globalization and with the ASEAN integration in 2015, historical education both in the local and regional levels require a convergence of ideas from historians, teachers, researchers and various practitioners related to the field of history.
In this regard, we would like to invite your school’s history/social science educators to attend this conference. Deadline for pre-registration (with discount) is on June 30, 2015.
Please take note that there will be a short welcome program in the afternoon of August 26 at the UST Civil Law lobby for early registration and distribution of conference kit. Also we would like to encourage conference participants to wear Filipiniana on August 27 for the opening ceremonies.
The conference program and other details are attached for your reference.
